Five Arrested in Drug Investigation
MERIDIAN- On July 20,2023 at approximately 3:30pm, officers with the Meridian Police Department served a search warrant at an apartment near the 3000 block of E Copper Point Dr. which yielded trafficking quantities of drugs including cocaine, marijuana, and edibles.

Officers obtained a search warrant as a result of an ongoing drug investigation. When officers entered the apartment, they immediately took four individuals into custody without incident: twenty-four (24) year old Nathan HASHEM, twenty-two (22) year old Christopher BREWER, twenty-two (22) year old Madeleine HICKEY, and a seventeen (17) year old juvenile. Twenty-one (21) year old Anthony MITHCELL arrived at the residence while officers were conducting their search and was also taken into custody.

During the search, officers found the following 909g of Cocaine, 2,759 units of Edible Psilocybin Mushrooms, 6,641 units of THC Edibles, 2,473g of Marijuana BHO Wax, 70g of raw Marijuana, and 77.22 pounds of Psilocybin Mushrooms. The edibles were packaged as popular candies and cereal brands with colorful and brand consistent packaging.

“Make no mistake about it, the packaging of these edibles is a very strong indicator this industry is targeting our children” says Police Chief Tracy Basterrechea. “This is why it is so important for parents to have proactive conversations with their kids early about the importance of staying drug free.”
