Money matters, due dates and Water System updates
Property Taxes - estimated tax bills were mailed in June and are due August 1st with a grace period through August 10th. Adjusted final bills will be sent once the State and County set their rates, before the November due date.
Water Bills and Solid Waste Bills- currently due in July, with a grace period through August 15th.
Water System updates!
The Mayor and Council are pleased to inform our residents that the Water Treatment Project to eliminate all unwanted contaminates from our water supply is progressing on schedule. We expect to have all of the site work completed in the next few weeks so when the vessels arrive (as much as 30 weeks from now), they can be hooked up and running ahead of the DEP deadline of May of 2024.
Our Water Storage Tank maintenance program continues as we are expecting to complete the restoration of our second water tank this summer. Our final tank restoration will begin later this year. That will complete this vital component to our water system, as the tanks will then be ready for decades of additional service.
While the tank program was in the planning stage, the State of NJDEP announcements to begin the PFOA / PFNA testing and removals have kept our team very busy the past few years. Mayor Randall & the Council are pleased to announce the proactive approach that has kept the Borough out in front of all these programs. We were recently rewarded by the State of NJ DEP Infrastructure Bank with a commitment to forgive $1 million dollars to the Borough for the cost of this project. This forgiveness program is the direct result of executing a plan from the first day we knew this was coming. Our teams dedicated efforts has allowed our Project to jump 50 others in the state system that resulted in a million-dollar reduction to this four-million-dollar project, to directly benefit all our residents.
Save the date -Ho-Ho-Kus Day plans are being finalized for Saturday, September 9th , with a rain date of the 10th and will take place from Noon – 6pm. We look forward to building off of last year’s amazing successful community event!
