On Friday, July 21, 2023, the Cloquet Police Department learned of charges filed by the Minnesota Attorney General's Office against a former Cloquet Police Officer.

By standard procedure, the Cloquet Police Department had referred the investigation to an outside agency to eliminate any perceived conflicts of interest.
The Carlton County Attorney's Office referred the case to the Minnesota Attorney General's Office.
The Cloquet Police Department has no other information or comment regarding the criminal complaint.
