INCIDENT: Driving Under the Influence Alcohol, Corporal Injury, Child Endangerment and Mayhem
LOCATION: 70000 Block of Joshua Drive, Twentynine Palms
SUSPECT(S): Dijon Amare Butler, 20-year-old Male Resident of Twentynine Palms
VICTIM(S): 18-year-old Female Resident of Twentynine Palms
11-month-old Male Resident of Twentynine Palms
SUMMARY: On Friday, July 21, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a domestic assault near the 70000 block of Joshua Drive, Twentynine Palms. Deputies arrived and contacted a female victim with visible injuries. The victim reported Dijon Amare Butler was intoxicated, assaulted her, took her baby, and fled in a gray Lexus.
Deputies on the scene broadcasted the information to responding units. Within minutes, deputies located the Lexus unoccupied in a nearby hotel parking lot.
Through investigative leads, deputies learned Butler was staying with a hotel guest. Deputies contacted Butler and the baby. The baby appeared unharmed and was reunited with family.
Butler was arrested and booked at Morongo Basin Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol, corporal injury, child endangerment, and mayhem. Bail was set at $60,000.
