POLICE SEEKING ASSISTANCE IN HIT AND RUN IDENTIFICATION
On Friday, July 21, 2023 at approximately 0902 hours, the Readington Township Police Department was dispatched to Main St. and Whitehouse Ave. for a hit and run. The investigation revealed a juvenile male pedestrian and dog were hit by a vehicle while utilizing the crosswalk. The juvenile sustained minor injuries and was later released from a local hospital. The victim's dog ultimately succumbed to its injuries after units cleared the scene.
According to witness statements, and the victim's account of the incident, the vehicle was described as a newer body style Chevrolet SUV with a chrome grille. The vehicle was last seen fleeing southbound on Rt. 523 (Main St.) towards Flemington. See the attached photograph of the actual vehicle wanted in this incident. The vehicle appears to be a Chevrolet Suburban (12th Gen. 2021-Present model year) with front window tints. No registration is known at this time.
