Main St road closure due to motor vehicle accident
UPDATE:
The Green Bay Police Department is asking that drivers avoid the 1200 block of Main Street on Monday, July 24, 2023, for a crash with injuries that has caused a partial building collapse.
Officers were dispatched to the scene around 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2023, for a minivan that had crashed into the Main Street Commons, causing a portion of the façade to fall from the building.
Alternate routes to take until further notice are University Avenue, E. Walnut Street, and E. Mason Street as drivers are being rerouted around Main Street between St. George Street and N. Irwin Avenue.
The crash resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to the driver, a 29-year-old Green Bay woman, who was taken into custody, along with the passenger of the vehicle, a 27-year-old Oneida man.
Initial reports by witnesses indicate reckless driving as a cause of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing. No additional details will be released, at this time.
