Green Bay Police Investigate Stabbing near St. John’s Homeless Shelter; One Person Injured & Suspect Arrested
The Green Bay Police Department has arrested a 23-year-old Green Bay man as a suspect in a stabbing near St. John’s Homeless Shelter, causing potential life-threatening injuries.
Officers were dispatched to the shelter for a weapon call just before 4:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, where they had learned that a 45-year-old Green Bay man had been stabbed near the intersection of S. Madison and Crooks streets by another male who had fled the scene. Within thirty minutes, police had arrested a male suspect in the 300 block of N. Van Buren Street.
Witnesses reported that the stabbing had followed an earlier argument at St. John’s Park.
We do not have any indication at this time that this was a random incident. The two people are believed to be known to each other. There is no known danger to the public.
The victim is expected to survive but remains hospitalized.
