SUSPECT(S): Cesar Arturo Islas, 33-year-old male of Highland
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, July 23, 2023, Deputy Torey Arlotti with the Apple Valley Police Department was contacted by the owner of several Chevron gas stations in the high desert. Deputy Arlotti was informed of a vehicle that had been at some of the Chevron locations and appeared to be attempting to steal gas from the Chevrons.
The Chevron owner gave Deputy Arlotti suspect and vehicle information regarding the suspected attempted thefts. The information was given to patrol stations in the high desert, asking law enforcement to be on the lookout.
At approximately 10:15 pm, Deputy Kenneth Mullins from the Apple Valley Police Department initiated a traffic stop on the suspected vehicle involved in the attempted thefts. Deputies Arlotti and Mullins investigated, and a device known to be used in stealing gasoline was recovered from the vehicle. This led to the arrest of the driver, Cesar Arturo Islas.
Islas was arrested and transported to High Desert Detention Center where he subsequently posted bail.
