Highland Park’s annual Parkstock outdoor summer concert series - 7/27
Highland Park’s annual Parkstock outdoor summer concert series to feature Magnolia St. String Band This Thursday July 27th
@ 6pm in Donaldson Park.
Magnolia Street String Band started in 2013 as an informal project between a few friends in Highland Park, NJ. Since 2014 the band has played a steady stream of shows to ever larger and more appreciative audiences. They have played festival stages, state fairs, hootenannies, honky tonks, and more refined events as well. Their music is grounded in traditional bluegrass with elements of cosmic Americana, country, and old-time as well as original compositions mixed in.
The band’s sound features powerful three-part harmonies and compelling instrumentals. Overall, their take on bluegrass feels old but relevant, traditional but personal, and well-crafted but soulful and direct. Their first full-length album, Wrong Side of the Rain, was released in June, 2019. The rain date for this show is Thursday August 17th.
This concert will be held in the gazebo in Grove One in the park, with ample parking available nearby. Food vendors will be available on site with refreshments for purchase.
Parkstock 2023 is a project of the Borough of Highland Park, NJ and is supported in part by the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
