The St. Marys City Commission is considering refurbishing the city golf course, to be operated by a private company such as Great Life. As a result, it is considering mailing out a brief paper survey asking a couple important questions about the proposed endeavor.

Once approved, the paper survey will likely be mailed to each registered voter within the city. Although the survey will not take the place of an election, it will hopefully show the level of interest for such from the population that might be called upon vote on a bond issue. 

A draft survey will be reviewed at the 8-1-23 city commission meeting. And at that meeting the draft questions may be rejected or changed, etc. - but having said that - here are the three questions on the draft survey:

1. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, how satisfied are you with the available recreational amenities within the city? (Select a number and then explain why you selected the rating).

2. Should the City consider refurbishing the St. Marys Golf Course? (Yes or No)

3. Refurbishing the golf course will likely require the city to issue debt. Proceeds from the golf course operations would be used to service the debt. Would you be in favor of the city issuing debt for this purpose? (Yes or No)

Moreover, once the paper survey has been mailed - it is planned to mirror that survey on Survey Monkey.

The current survey (pre-survey if you will) was created to get a general understanding of what respondents thought of responding to a paper survey - ironically the question was asked of online respondents, but the results will be helpful none the less.

The pre-survey was designed to see how respondents felt about paper surveys, hopefully provide some humor, and of course to promote the upcoming mail survey for the registered voters.
