SMPD investigating stabbing homicide 
The San Mateo Police Department is currently investigating a stabbing homicide. At 3:48pm today, SMPD received information that a possible stabbing had occurred. Information developed led us to believe the stabbing occurred at an apartment complex on the 200 block of 37th Ave. Without a specific address or confirmation of victim, SMPD officers began a door-to-door canvas of the complex. At 6:37pm, officers located a deceased victim within an apartment on the 200 block of 36th Ave. At this time, it appears the victim was known to the suspect, and we are attempting to take the suspect into custody. This is an active and evolving investigation and we will provide more information as we are able.
