Oppressive heat and humidity will build into the region through Saturday.
Additionally, there is potential for scattered strong to severe thunderstorms with a localized flash flood threat this afternoon into evening. The main threat is damaging wind gusts, but there is also a low risk for a brief tornado, mainly across the Lower Hudson Valley and CT. 
There is also potential for afternoon/evening thunderstorm activity on Saturday. In addition, the region has a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms for Saturday.
