On Friday, July 21, 2023 at approximately 0902 hours, the Readington Township Police Department was dispatched to Main St. and Whitehouse Avenue for a hit and run. The investigation revealed a juvenile male pedestrian and dog were hit by a vehicle while utilizing the crosswalk. The juvenile sustained a hand injury and was transported to the hospital. The victim's dog ultimately succumbed to its injuries.
A nixle alert was sent out the day of the incident seeking the publics assistance in locating a vehicle. Keep in mind, that was a vehicle of interest, not the confirmed striking vehicle.
This is still an active investigation. We are now focusing our attention on a 2022/23 Ford Expedition Max, as seen in the attached picture. This too is a vehicle of interest. We will continue to use all resources available to us to locate the striking party. Please call with any information that you believe will help our investigation.
