UPDATE - Pedestrian and Dog struck on Main Street

On Friday, July 21, 2023 at approximately 0902 hours, the Readington Township Police Department was dispatched to Main St. and Whitehouse Avenue for a hit and run. The investigation revealed a juvenile male pedestrian and dog were hit by a vehicle while utilizing the crosswalk. The juvenile sustained a hand injury and was transported to the hospital. The victim's dog ultimately succumbed to its injuries.
A nixle alert was sent out the day of the incident seeking the publics assistance in locating a vehicle.  Keep in mind, that was a vehicle of interest, not the confirmed striking vehicle.

This is still an active investigation.  We are now focusing  our attention on a 2022/23 Ford Expedition Max, as seen in the attached picture.  This too is a vehicle of interest.  We will continue to use all resources available to us to locate the striking party.  Please call with any information that you believe will help our investigation.  Calls can be directed to our Traffic Bureau by calling Sgt. Ferrerio or Cpl Wester at (908)534-4031 x379 or 370.
