For Immediate Release
SUBJECT: Missing 8 year old girl safely located by a Redwood City resident
DATE/TIME: July 26th 2023
LOCATION: 100 Block of Roosevelt, Redwood City
Media Information: An 8 year old female got separated from her caretaker at around 9:52 in the morning. The Redwood City Police Department immediately responded with all available officers to do a thorough search of the area. A Nixle alert was broadcast which resulted in residents calling in possible sightings along the El Camino Real corridor.
An observant Redwood City resident, Cristian Hernandez, was outside his place of work at 5 Stars Auto Body Repair on Shasta Street when he spotted the child under the Woodside Overpass. Seeing that she was alone and concerned for her well-being, he took her to a nearby market and contacted the police. She was reunited with her parents shortly thereafter. The child did not suffer any injuries.
The Redwood City Police Department would like to thank Cristian for keeping this little girl safe. We care for the folks who live and work in our community and really appreciate their help. We encourage everyone in Redwood City to contact us if they need our help or if the see something suspicious.
