Narrative:
On 7/24/23, at about 2325 hours, deputies responded to an audible alarm at a tool business in the city of Thousand Oaks.  Upon their arrival, the deputies determined a burglary had occurred and the suspects were outstanding.  Detectives responded to the scene and reviewed surveillance footage, collected evidence, and began their investigation.  On 7/25/23, at 1130 hours, Jerry Gil was arrested for the burglary and three others that occurred in the city of Thousand Oaks.

From March of 2022 to July of 2023, the Career Criminals Unit had been investigating three commercial burglaries where the suspects targeted tools and high-end saws. The investigators determined the Modus operandi was the same and there were other similarities between the crimes.  Detectives used investigative techniques to gather and analyze information over several months and were able to identify one suspect, Edgar Amezquita.  Detectives authored a warrant for his arrest for one count of commercial burglary.  Amezquita was arrested in September of 2022.  The investigative process continued in an effort to identify the other suspect.

After the burglary on 7/24/23, investigators had determined the identity of the suspect and were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle in Los Angles.  Detectives from the Career Criminals Unit and Majors Crimes Unit observed the suspect enter the vehicle.  A traffic enforcement stop was conducted, and Jerry Gil was arrested without incident.  A search of his vehicle and residence was conducted, however the stolen property was not located.

Gil was booked at the Main Jail for four counts of PC 459- burglary and remains in custody with bail set at $100,000.

Amezquita was arraigned and is currently out on bail.
