The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Southeastern Washington County in north central Maryland... West central Frederick County in north central Maryland... Northeastern Jefferson County in the Panhandle of West Virginia...

* Until 615 PM EDT.

* At 531 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Shepherdstown, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

* Locations impacted include... Frederick, Thurmont, Shepherdstown, Harry Grove Stadium, Ballenger Creek, Walkersville, Boonsboro, Braddock Heights, Mount Lena, Harpers Ferry, Clover Hill, Discovery-Spring Garden, Linganore-Bartonsville, Jefferson, Myersville, Keedysville, Sharpsburg, Rohrersville, Burkittsville and Gapland.

* AFFECTED AREAS: FREDERICK, MD ... WASHINGTON, MD ... JEFFERSON, WV

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in Sterling Virginia. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
