INCIDENT: Fatal Vehicle Collision
LOCATION: Baseline St/McKinley St, Highland
INVOLVED PARTY(S): Party #1 - 68-year-old male, resident of Highland (Deceased)
Party #2 - 69-year-old male, resident of Grand Terrace
SUMMARY: On July 28, 2023, at approximately 8:25 p.m., deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to a traffic collision between a vehicle and a bicycle on Baseline Street near McKinley Street.
The investigation revealed the bicycle rider (Party #1) was crossing from one side of Baseline Street to the other, outside of a crosswalk and without lights. The driver of a Chevy Silverado (Party #2) was traveling east on Baseline Street and struck the bicyclist. The bicyclist was pronounced deceased. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Baseline Street was shut down for several hours, between McKinley Street and Guthrie Street, for the investigation.
