INCIDENT: Fatal Vehicle Collision
LOCATION: 9th Street/Del Rosa Drive, San Bernardino
INVOLVED PARTY(S): Party #1 – Carlos Gomez, 22-year-old male, resident of Hemet
Party #2 – Unidentified Female (Deceased)
SUMMARY: On Saturday, July 29, 2023, at approximately 12:12 a.m., deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to a two-vehicle collision at 9th Street and Del Rosa Drive.
The initial investigation revealed a Toyota Tacoma, driven by Carlos Gomez, was eastbound on 9th Street and failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Del Rosa Drive. The truck broadsided a Lexus sedan traveling northbound on Del Rosa Drive, causing it to catch fire. The adult female driver of the Lexus was unable to get out of the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Gomez was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
The intersection of 9th St / Del Rosa Dr. was shut down for several hours for the scene investigation.
