UPDATE: Green Bay Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Crash on S. Broadway
The Green Bay Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash between a minivan and semi on S. Broadway that has resulted in the death of a 51-year-old Green Bay man.
Officers were dispatched on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, just before 7:15 a.m. to the 1000 block of S. Broadway for the crash that had closed the roadway for just over four hours.
The Green Bay Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. However, initial reports indicate that the van had crossed the centerline causing a head-on collision with the semi.
CPR was administered to the driver of the van on scene who was later pronounced deceased. Their name will be withheld until next of kin is notified.
A 21-year-old Green Bay woman, a passenger in the minivan, was seriously injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital for treatment. She is expected to survive.
There was no report of any injuries to the semi driver, a 50-year-old Oconto man.
S. Broadway is back open to drivers.

The Green Bay Police Department is asking drivers to avoid the area of S. Broadway between 5th and 8th Streets due to a traffic crash involving a minivan and semi.
Officers were dispatched on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, just before 7:15 a.m. to the 1000 block of S. Broadway for the crash. We will update drivers when the roadway fully reopens.
In the meantime, drivers are asked to utilize alternate routes including Ashland Avenue.
