Citizens have reported a black bear roaming the corn fields north of Othello. At least one photograph has been posted giving the sightings even more credibility. Citizens are being advised to be aware and alert when walking in the area north of town.
The National Parks Experience provides advise for black bear encounters:
• Make Noise (while walking or when you first see the animal)
• Pay attention to your surroundings
• Always keep pets on a leash
• Hike (walk) on marked trails and during the daytime
