INCIDENT: THEFT INVESTIGATION / FENTANYL OVERDOSE
LOCATION: Main Street/ Cataba Road, Hesperia
SUSPECT: Rebecca Lee Gregoire, 31-years-old, resident of Hesperia
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 7:50pm, Deputy K. Hillebrand, who is assigned to the Victor Valley Transit Team, was patrolling the Victor Valley Transit Authority system when a local retail business employee flagged him down. The employee told Deputy Hillebrand that a female at the location had possibly committed a theft.
The female, later identified as Rebecca Lee Gregoire, was contacted at the location, and the theft was unfounded. However, Gregoire had several outstanding arrest warrants for theft, and was arrested without incident.
While transporting Gregoire to High Desert Detention Center, Deputy Hillebrand recognized she had become silent in the backseat. He attempted to wake her but could not. He immediately pulled over and revived her momentarily. Deputy Hillebrand determined that she swallowed an unknown amount of Fentanyl to hide it from him when he approached her.
Deputy Hillebrand immediately activated his emergency lights and siren and responded to the Victor Valley Global Medical Center. When he arrived, he was met by medical staff, who were advised of the circumstances before his arrival. Medical staff administered Narcan to Gregoire who was again unresponsive. The Narcan was successful, and she was revived. Gregiure was admitted into the hospital for further treatment.
