IMPD Homicide detectives locate and arrest suspect in early July homicide investigation.
On Monday, July 31, 2023, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives arrested 64-year-old Jerry Lewis for his alleged role in a homicide.
On June 1, 2023, IMPD Southeast District Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Spruce St. on the report of an unresponsive female. Officers arrived and located a female victim, later identified as 54-year-old Melisa Hansboro, with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) was on the scene rendering medical aid. Despite medical intervention, Hansboro was later pronounced deceased at the scene. IMPD Homicide detectives were notified and responded to the scene.
The investigation continued and detectives identified Lewis as a suspect for his role in this homicide. Detectives consulted with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office and were able to ascertain an arrest warrant on July 26, 2023, for the charge of Murder.
Monday, July 31, 2023, IMPD Violent Crimes Unit(VCU) Detectives located Lewis and placed him under arrest for his warrant.
