On Thursday, August 3, 2023, Beaufort County public safety agencies, along with the Beaufort County School District and Beaufort Memorial Hospital will be conducting a training exercise focused on an active shooter scenario.
 
This is a functional exercise that will take place at Lady’s Island Middle School, Beaufort High School, and Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Expect to see an increased presence of law enforcement, fire/EMS, and school district staff in those areas between 8:00 a.m. and noon.
 
Public safety agencies within Beaufort County have been participating in combined active shooter training for 14 years.  This year, training will include a parent/student reunification scenario along with a patient surge scenario at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
 
The focus area of the exercise is to gauge preparedness and response and assess operational coordination, incident mitigation, casualty care, and family reunification.
 
This exercise is supported by volunteer role players from the Beaufort County School District as well as our military partners.
