Male in Custody After Multi County Pursuit
MERIDIAN- At approximately 10:45am on August 2, 2023, officers with the Meridian Police Department were notified of a pursuit heading South Bound on Hwy 16 from Gem County. The pursuit which was initiated in Payette, was discontinued by Gem County Deputies at Star Rd. and McMillan but a Meridian Officer in the area of Black Cat and Franklin Rd. witnessed the vehicle continuing to drive recklessly.  The vehicle then crashed into a ditch on E Franklin Rd. The driver of the vehicle forty-three (43) year old Elijah ANDERSON got out of the vehicle, fled on foot, and would not obey commands from officers. A taser was deployed and ANDERSON was taken into custody without further incident.
 
ANDERSON was arrested and transported to the Ada County Jail on the following charges: one (1) felony count Possession of a Controlled Substance, one (1) misdemeanor count Possession of a Controlled Substance, one (1) misdemeanor count Reckless Driving, one (1) misdemeanor count Driving Without Privileges, one (1) misdemeanor count Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, one (1) misdemeanor count Resisting or Obstructing a Police Officer. Gem County Sheriff’s Office and Payette Police Department are handling the pursuit investigations of their respective jurisdictions and charges are pending.
