Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a male adult.
Deputies from Transit Services Bureau responded to the Metro Green Line (Crenshaw Pax) located at 11902 South Crenshaw Boulevard in the city of Hawthorne regarding a stab victim call.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at approximately 7:23 PM.
When deputies arrived, they discovered the victim, a Hispanic male, 20-25 years of age, suffering from apparent stab wounds to the upper torso on the train. He was transported to a local hospital where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The suspect, who was also identified as a Hispanic male, 35-40 years of age was also detained and transported to a local hospital for apparent gunshot wounds to the upper torso.
Investigators learned that while on the train, the victim and suspect got into a physical altercation. During the incident, the victim produced a handgun as the suspect began to stab him. The suspect then exited the train and was apprehended by deputy personnel. There are no outstanding suspects.
The investigation is ongoing, and currently there is no additional information.
