Harris County Sheriff's Office Announces K9 Retirement Celebration

HOUSTON – The Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is proud to announce the retirement of two K9 partners who served the agency and the community well. The agency's K9 Unit will celebrate their dedication and faithful years of service today, August 3, at noon at the HCSO Academy located at 2316 Atascocita Rd, Humble, TX 77396. 

As part of the celebration, leadership will present each K9 with a retirement certificate. K9 Bady and K9 Grizly will spend their golden years with their handlers.  


Meet the Retired K9s 

K9 Bady is an 11-year-old Belgian Malinois. He served our Harris County residents for eight years and worked in patrol, narcotics, and SWAT. He has worked alongside his handler, Deputy Clayton Marshall, on 189 patrol deployments, 102 captures, 176 assisted captures, recovered $698,166, confiscated narcotics, 53.1 kilos of cocaine, and 40 kilos of methamphetamine.  
 

K9 Grizly is an 8-year-old German Shepherd. He is trained to identify narcotics and track a scent. K9 Grizly served our community for almost five years with his handler, Deputy David Thomas. K9 Grizly helped arrest six suspects and assisted with eight arrests. He also assisted with the arrest of 11 narcotic suspects, confiscated 239 pounds of marijuana, and seized $1,298,911.
