Please be advised, the sewer cleaning and mapping project for Jekyll Island remains ongoing. The project is nearing completion with 44,000 linear feet of sewer lines already cleaned. The cleaning phase of the project is anticipated to be complete by August 30th.
While the exact dates of impact on individual properties are unknown, residents should remain aware of activity in the vicinity of their homes. As cleaning occurs near your residence, mild gurgling from sewer lines is anticipated.
Though minimal impact has occurred during ongoing cleaning, there have been highly isolated occurrences of minimal sewer backup near homes with congested sewer lines. Homeowners concerned with experiencing any effect from the sewer cleaning should keep their toilet lids down.
The cleaning is intended to clear and remove any blockages within the lines to provide effective sewer services and prevent major backups or damage to sewer lines for homeowners.
