 August 4, 2023, marks the 28^th anniversary of the day Officer Michael F. Clark lost his life in the line of duty serving our community.  Officer Clark left behind a wife and son, as well as many members of their extended families and friends.  His sacrifice is a reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face every day, when they go out into the community to serve and protect others. Officer Clark’s tragic death was a severe loss for his immediate family, close friends, and colleagues. His death was also a profound shock to the close-knit Simi Valley community, which came to the support of our Department and Officer Clark’s family in their time of need.  Officer Clark has been the only officer from the Simi Valley Police Department to pay the ultimate sacrifice by laying down his life for the safety of our residents. 
 
Earlier today, the Simi Valley Police Department paid tribute to Officer Clark with a gathering of current and former officers during a flag lowering ceremony.  Officer Michael Clark will always be remembered as a true hero.
