Stolen Vehicle Arrest 
On 8/6/23 at 1600 hours, a Simi Valley Police Officer observed a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, which was reported stolen on 8/4/23 in the City of Simi Valley, leaving Motel 6 and entering the 118 Fwy East.
Prior to the officer attempting to stop the vehicle, the vehicle exited the freeway and pulled into the Ross parking lot at 2845 Cochran. The driver and female passenger fled on foot.
Responding officers captured the driver near the intersection of Cochran and Capitol Way.
The stolen vehicle driver, Zackery Matuzak (27 year old Simi valley Resident), was placed under arrest for 10851 VC (stolen vehicle), 148(a)(1) (resisting, obstructing, and delaying), and a local Felony warrant for Violation of Probation.
Follow-Up to Matuzak’s hotel room resulted in additional charges for 487(a) (grand theft), 11378 H&S (possession of methamphetamine), 11350 H&S (possession of opiates), and 466 (possession of Burglary tools).
Matuzak was booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for the listed charges.
