Advisory

Prolonged rainfall expected; Flooding possible in low-lying areas

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Northern New Jersey starting tonight, Aug. 6, through tomorrow as multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday morning through early Tuesday. Flash flooding is possible Monday night into Tuesday.

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) encourages residents to exercise caution as any intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas.

Residents are urged to avoid flood-prone areas. OEM will deploy barricades at flood-prone intersections. Do not drive around barricades.

Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.

Residents should monitor local forecasts for additional advisories, watches, and warnings. Updates will be posted on the Hoboken OEM twitter page at @HobokenOEM. Residents are also encouraged to monitor the City’s Twitter at @CityOfHoboken and Facebook at facebook.com/hoboken, or sign up to receive email or text updates by visiting www.hobokennj.gov/alerts
