Location: Intersection of Lawrence Expressway and Monroe Street

On Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 1:27 a.m., a witness called Santa Clara public safety dispatchers to report a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Santa Clara fire and police personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.

A preliminary investigation by Santa Clara Police Department officers revealed the driver of a Honda SUV drove northbound on Lawrence Expressway in the second lane from the right shoulder (#3 lane) of traffic toward Monroe Street. The pedestrian was walking westbound on Monroe Street in the crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and fully cooperated with SCPD. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in this collision. SCPD Traffic and Crime Scene Investigators arrived on scene and documented the collision.

The driver was a 49 year-old male resident of Campbell. The pedestrian was described as a Caucasian or Hispanic female adult, 25 – 35 years of age, medium build and height, brown hair, blue eyes and several tattoos.

We are seeking the public’s assistance with help identifying the pedestrian. If anyone witnessed, has video footage, or knows the identity of the pedestrian, we encourage you to contact Traffic Investigator Scott Wilson at (408) 615-4764
