Heavy rain predicted; Flooding is possible; Avoid flood prone areas
The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Northern New Jersey for today and tonight, with a risk of excessive rainfall and flash flooding. The heaviest rain is expected around 4 p.m. this afternoon, with high tide at 4:50 p.m. These conditions could potentially lead to flooding in low-lying areas.
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) reminds residents to exercise caution as any intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas. Residents should avoid flood-prone areas. Do not drive around barricades.
Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.
Residents should monitor local forecasts for additional advisories, watches, and warnings. Updates will be posted on the Hoboken OEM Twitter page at @HobokenOEM. Residents are also encouraged to monitor the City’s Twitter at @CityOfHoboken and Facebook at facebook.com/hoboken, or sign up to receive email or text updates by visiting www.hobokennj.gov/alerts.
