HIT & RUN CRASH AT 1:53 P.M. ON MONDAY AUGUST 7, 2023, ON NORTH MAIN STREET, JUST NORTH OF ENTRANCE TO RUTTER"S FARM STORE 
Unit # 1, a Dump Truck was travelling north on North Main Street. A unknown vehicle was stopped on the north bound lane apparently waiting to turn left into the Dollar Store parking lot. Operator of Unit # 1 apparently applied the brakes and slid off the east side of the roadway striking the Century Link Pole with it’s front, almost snapping the pole in two about 5 ½ feet above the ground.
After impact the operator of the Hit & Run Dump Truck, Unit # 1 backed up and pulled into the Dollar General Store parking lot. The Hit & Run Operator got out of the dump truck to examine the dump truck.
The Hit & Run Operator then got into the dump truck and fled the scene, travelling west on Buchanan Trail West.
The Mercersburg Police Department is in the process of gathering surveillance footage from businesses in the area to aid in determining the identity of the Hit & Run Vehicle and it’s operator.
