Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of July 31-August 6, 2023
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There was one robbery during the past week.
On Tuesday, 08-01-23, at approximately 3:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to Macy's at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a robbery. An employee alerted asset protection officers that two suspects were quickly selecting clothes. The asset protection officers tried to catch up to the suspects, who were walking towards the store's exit with unpaid clothing. The first suspect ran out of the store with approximately $225 worth of clothes. Shortly, an officer located the first suspect near Serramonte Boulevard and Callan Boulevard. Meanwhile, near the exit, the second suspect turned around and faced one of the asset protection officers while holding a pepper spray canister in her hand. Next, the second suspect proceeded to walk closer to the exit; however, a male tried to block the second suspect’s path, which caused her to drop the clothing she was holding. During the apprehension and outside the store, this suspect pepper-sprayed the loss prevention officer and then ran away. Later, officers found the second suspect lying on the floorboard of a vehicle parked not far from Macy's west entrance. The first suspect, a 41-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for organized retail theft and an outstanding warrant. The second suspect, a 29-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery, organized retail theft, unlawful possession and use of a tear gas weapon, and two outstanding warrants.

Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
