Advisory

Clayton County Citizens Hundreds of Inmates are not released due to GBI’s system being down SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s (GBI) Crime Information Center (GCIC) Computerized Criminal History (CCH) system is down.

The CCH system is a critical component when releasing inmates. When this system is down, criminal histories and holds from other Georgia counties can’t be verified.

For example, if someone is arrested in Clayton County for shoplifting and bonds out, if the system is down, hypothetically, the releasing agency wouldn’t have the means to know if the individual is wanted out of another jurisdiction for murder.

To keep the citizens of Clayton County safe and to prevent a violent incident in Clayton County, no inmates will be released until the GBI corrects this issue.

GCIC stated their live-scan system has been down since this past Wednesday. Their vendor NEC is currently trying to rectify the problem and will not be able to give us an update for another 36-48 hours.

This affects hundreds of people's bonds in Clayton County not being processed in a timely manner.

Clayton Citizens,  no matter the day or hour, when the GBI fixes the issue with CCH Sheriff Levon Allen has already told his command to pay all employees emergency call back to get all inmates since Wednesday processed and released.

If you have any questions in regards to the system being back up, please contact The GBI for further.
