Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting.
Officers from the Arcadia Police Department received a call for service regarding a person armed with a knife, Saturday, August 12, at approximately 9:09 PM. When officers arrived at the location, they discovered the reporting party was the mother of the disturbing party, a twenty-one year old female Hispanic.
While an officer was contacting the family in front of the location, the disturbing party exited the location, then re-entered it, exited again, and began advancing toward the officer. The officer ordered the disturbing party to show her hands.
She kept advancing toward the officer, and at one point, removed a kitchen knife from her pocket. She then began running toward the officer with the knife raised above her shoulders, holding it in a stabbing position. At this time, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was struck by a single round in the upper torso. Officers rendered medical aid to the suspect. She was transported to a local area hospital in stable condition.

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators are assisting Arcadia Police Department regarding an Officer-Involved Shooting investigation. The incident was reported Saturday, August 12, 2023 at approximately 9:25 PM, on the 50 block of California St., in the city of Arcadia.
Officers were conducting a traffic stop when an Officer-Involved shooting occurred.
The suspect sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local area hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.
