Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé seeks the public’s assistance in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a theft that occurred on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Police responded to 7-Eleven, at 790 Broad Street, on a call of a theft. A male customer reached over the counter and took an employee’s purse containing $50.00 and other personal belongings.

The suspect is described as having several freckles on his face and is known to frequent Broad Street and Market Street. 

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
