SUMMARY: On August 13, 2023, at about 11:23 a.m., deputies with the Hesperia Police Department responded to the area of C Avenue and Hercules Street in the city of Hesperia reference a span of fiber optics cables cut from poles.
Upon deputies arrival, Charter/Spectrum advised there were several fiber optics cables and copper cables that were damaged. Due to the damage caused by an unknown suspect, residents experienced an outage of their service for several hours until the restoration was completed. Damage was estimsated at approximately $40,000. It appears the vandalism may have also affected customers of other network providers.
The suspect(s) has not been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
