Morongo Basin Deputies Respond and Render Aid with Narcan in 4 Overdose Calls in 5 Days

DATE: August 5, through August 9, 2023

INCIDENT: Fentanyl Overdose / Narcan Administration

LOCATION: Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley, California

VICTIM(S): 30-year-old male resident of Twentynine Palms
37-year-old male resident of Twentynine Palms
19-year-old female resident of Twentynine Palms
24-year-old male resident of Yucca Valley

SUMMARY: On Saturday, August 5, 2023, at approximately 8:34 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence located in the 73800 block of Sunnyvale Drive,in Twentynine Palms. A 37-year-old male was not breathing and had possibly overdosed. Within minutes, deputies arrived at the residence and determined the individual, who was unresponsive, had overdosed from suspected Fentanyl. Deputies immediately administered Narcan and began life saving measures. San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived and began administering basic life support, however, the individual
succumbed to the overdose.

On Sunday, August 6, 2023, at approximately 1:47 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence located in the 5200 block of Warren Vista Avenue in Yucca Valley. A 24-year-old male had possibly overdosed due to ingesting suspected narcotics. Soon after, deputies arrived at the residence and located the unresponsive individual laying on the floor. Deputies administered two doses of Narcan and the individual's vitals improved. The individual was transported to High Desert Medical Center for further medical treatment. 

On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at approximately 5:25 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence located in the 3100 block of Shoshone Valley Road in Twentynine Palms. A 30-year-old male had overdosed on Fentanyl. Minutes later, deputies arrived at the residence and located the individual who was unresponsive and not breathing. Deputies immediately performed CPR and administered Narcan. The individual regained consiousness and was transported to the High Desert Medical Center for medical treatment. 

On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at approximately 6:18 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence located in the 74000 block of Twilight Drive in Twentynine Palms. A 19-year-old female had also overdosed on Fentanyl. Approximately seven minutes later, deputies arrived at the residence, located the individual and immediately administered CPR and Narcan. The 19-year-old female regained consciousness and was transported to the High Desert Medical Center for medical treatment.
