ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Nourse and Pittswere processed at Amsterdam Police headquarters where they were held for arraignment in Amsterdam City Court and later were both remanded to the custody of the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: On August 11th 2023 at approximately 9:50 a.m. Amsterdam Police were notified of a suspicious vehicle parked at a local business on State Highway 5s in the City of Amsterdam. The caller reported that there were two subjects inside that were possibly in need of medical attention. Amsterdam Patrol officers responded to the area and located two subjects sleeping inside the vehicle. They were identified as Brad M. Nourse and Nicole M. Pitts. During patrol interview of the two individuals officers observed in plain view a plastic bag with narcoticsinside it within the car. Nourse and Pitts then advisedpolice that the substance was in fact methamphetamine. A warrants check showed that Nourse was wanted on a bench warrant issued out of Amsterdam City Court for failure to appear on the original charge of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 5th degree. Both subjects were then placed in custody. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of illegal substances including more methamphetamine, ecstasy, and otherillegally possessed prescription pills. Also located during the search was a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun. Upon further review the weapon’s serial numbers were scratched off and neither subject held a valid permit to possess the weapon. Both Nourse and Pitts were then transported to Amsterdam Police headquarters for processing.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
