Active Threat Training occurring at Edison Middle School on August 15th and 16th.
The Janesville Police Department is hosting an Active Threat Training for Rock County Area Law Enforcement on Tuesday, August 15th, and Wednesday, August 16th at Edison Middle School in Janesville. The training will run from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.
Law Enforcement officers attending the training will utilize Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) developed at the ALERRT Center at Texas State University. The ALERRT Center at Texas State University was created in 2002 as a partnership between Texas State University, the San Marcos, Texas Police Department, and the Hays County, Texas Sheriff’s Office to address the need for active shooter response training for first responders. In 2013, ALERRT at Texas State was named the National Standard in Active Shooter Response Training by the FBI.
The training will use scenario-based simulations that replicate real-world situations as closely as possible. These simulations help officers practice decision-making, communication, and tactical skills in a controlled environment, improving their readiness for actual events.
Thank you to the School District of Janesville for the opportunity to train at Edison Middle School!
