The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... Cherokee County in southwestern North Carolina... Southeastern Monroe County in east Tennessee...
* Until 530 AM EDT.
* At 117 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen in the northern half of the county, especially in the Andrews and Marble areas. Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area over the next couple of hours. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Andrews, Murphy, Unaka, Marble, Hiawasse Dam, Violet and Topton.
