Suspicious Activity Report Leads to Drug Arrest in West Point

A citizen's report led to the apprehension of a suspect currently out on bond and under Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).
On August 8th, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a suspicious individual on Winton Road in West Point. Deputies arrived on the scene, located, and contacted 50-year-old West Point resident Micah Spearing.
During the contact, Spearing was discovered to be in possession of approximately one ounce of methamphetamine, several prescription medications, and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, he was found in possession of what initially appeared to be a rifle but was determined to be a CO2-powered crossbow gun. Further investigation revealed that Spearing was out on bond from Amador County for a separate criminal offense of possessing a controlled substance for sale. He is under PRCS out of Calaveras County and had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest due to violating his release terms.
Spearing was subsequently arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Detention Facility on charges of violation of Post Release Community Supervision, possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, and committing a felony while out on bail. The case remains under active investigation.
