* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northwestern Mecklenburg County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... Central Gaston County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...

* Until 345 PM EDT.

* At 306 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Gastonia, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include... Gastonia, Northwest Charlotte, Mt Holly, Belmont, South Gastonia, Dallas, Stanley, Cramerton, Lowell and Ranlo.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GASTON, NC ... MECKLENBURG, NC

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. If on or near Mountain Island Lake and the northern part of Lake Wylie, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
