**PPD SWAT, SIU, MCTF SERVE SEARCH WARRANT ON MURDER SUSPECT'S RESIDENCE**
On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, Pomona Police SWAT Team, Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) arrested 38-year-old Ricardo Ramirez of Pomona for the murder of 32-year-old Marcelino Vazquez of Pomona.
On November 28, 2022, at about 1:00 AM, Patrol Officers responded to a call of a victim of a shooting in the 600 block of Karesh Ave. in the City of Pomona. When Officers arrived, they located an adult male victim in the alley suffering from gunshot wounds. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and confirmed the victim had succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to assume the investigation. Through an extensive investigation, Investigators identified Ramirez in connection to the murder of Marcelino Vazquez. Ramirez was arrested in the City of Pomona and booked at the Pomona City Jail. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has filed the following charges:
187 (a) PC - Murder
246 PC – Shooting at an Occupied Motor Vehicle
136.1 (c) PC - Dissuading a Witness
Ramirez is currently being held in the Los Angeles County Jail on $2,250,000 bail. The investigation remains ongoing.
