Train Collision at Monterey Road and Leavesley Road 
On 08/15/23 at approximately 0845 hours, the Gilroy Police Department was notified of a collision at Leavesley Road and Monterey Road involving a train. As GPD units arrived on scene, it was determined the collision occurred between a train and a female pedestrian. Life-saving measures were provided, and despite those efforts, the victim succumbed to her injuries. The identity of the decedent is being withheld at this time pending notification to the next of kin. Collisions involving trains are investigated by the Union Pacific Railroad Police, who assumed the investigation with the assistance of the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.
