LOCATION: Corwin Road & State Hwy 18, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Frank Jones, 58-year-old male of Apple valley
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, August 13, 2023, at approximately 9:12 pm, Deputy Kenneth Mullins of Apple Valley Police Department saw a vehicle being driven erratically on State Highway 18 in the Town of Apple Valley. As Deputy Mullins initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver ran two red lights and failed to yield.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Frank Jones, continued driving his vehicle in an attempt to evade Deputy Mullins, at times reaching speeds of approximately 85 mph. After fleeing for about two and a half miles, the driver stopped, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies apprehended Jones a short distance from the vehicle without further incident.
Jones was arrested for felony evading and driving under the influence. He was transported to High Desert Detention Center for housing and booked in lieu of $110,000 bail.
On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, Victorville District Attorney’s office filed charges on Jones for these offenses.
