Incident: CIRT Officers Make Narcotic Sales Arrest

On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at approximately 11:25 AM, Petaluma Police officers assigned to the Community Impact Response Team (CIRT) conducted a traffic enforcement stop for false registration tabs on a vehicle, in the area of Industrial Avenue and Corona Road.
Officer identified the driver of the vehicle as James Caulfield and determined he was on active Sonoma County probation. CIRT Officers, with the assistance of K-9 Jax, conducted a search of Caulfield’s vehicle pursuant to the terms of his probation.
During the search of Caulfield’s vehicle, officers located approximately 53 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging consistent with narcotic sales, and drug paraphernalia. All of the items were located within the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
Caulfield was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of sales, transportation of methamphetamine for the purpose of sales, violation of probation, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended drivers license. He was transported to the Sonoma County Jail and booked in.
