The Camarillo Police Department is currently accepting applications from Camarillo residents to join their community volunteer programs. There are three volunteer groups consisting of the Camarillo Citizen Patrol (C.C.P.), Disaster Assistance Response Team (D.A.R.T.) and Explorers. All programs are supervised by the Camarillo Police Department for the city of Camarillo. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Camarillo Police Department have long experienced strong partnerships with citizen volunteers. The contributions made by these trained volunteers have been an integral part of the support system needed to achieve law enforcement’s mission of public safety. Explorers Exploring is an exciting way for youth to explore the dynamic field of law enforcement firsthand. The program is designed to enhance a youth’s preparation for a future in law enforcement service, encourage community service, offer firsthand experiences with field activities of the Sheriff’s Office and provide Camarillo Police positive relationships with local youth. Explorers can participate in ride-alongs with deputies, attend weekly meetings, participate in tactical based competitions, perform specialized details, attend a 3-week summer academy and much more. Requirements to join the Explorers:
D.A.R.T. is a volunteer organization to respond in support of the city of Camarillo and the county of Ventura under direction of the Camarillo Police, in times of emergency, disasters or general requests. D.A.R.T. members must complete 80 hours of initial CERT training and are recurrently trained in first aid, traffic control, light search and rescue, and communications. D.A.R.T. attends and helps at many local civic events including Camarillo High football games, street fairs, July 4th, Christmas parade, and many other community events. Camarillo Citizen Patrol Program The C.C.P. is a community-based crime prevention program exercising pro-active law enforcement principles. The C.C.P. program is composed of volunteers who desire to interact, serve and protect their community. C.C.P. members conduct visibility patrols, assist with community-based activities such as parades, perform vacation house checks, conduct traffic control at collisions, help during local incidents and events, perform Kid Print and Person At-Risk Identification Cards, and perform other station duties.
