Fish Fire Impact Area Moves to Yellow Alert Level on Sunday, August 20 at 4 PM

Fish Fire Impact Area Moves to Yellow Level at 4 PM on Sunday, August 20; No parking or trash cans allowed on Mel Canyon Road.

Fish Fire Impact Area Yellow Alert:
Effective Sunday, August 20 at 4 PM, the Fish Fire Impact Area will transition to a Yellow Alert. During this period, parking and the placement of trash cans will not be permitted on Mel Canyon Road.

Residents from Mel Canyon Road from Brookridge Road to Fish Canyon Road (approximately 25 homes) are directed to follow the below protocol:

• Rain-related parking restrictions in effect on Mel Canyon Road between Brookridge Road and Fish Canyon Road.

Tropical Storm Hillary and Potential Impact:
We wish to draw your attention to the development of Tropical Storm Hillary in the Pacific Ocean near Baja California. Predictions indicate that this storm might intensify into a hurricane and has the potential to affect not only Los Angeles County but also other Southern California regions. Rainfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour are anticipated for Duarte, which could lead to mud and debris flows.

The National Weather Service has informed us that flash flooding is expected to be a threat in the San Gabriel Valley cities through Monday.

Valley View Elementary School Notice:
Valley View Elementary School located at 237 Mel Canyon Road will remain open on Monday, August 21. However, please note that parents will not be permitted to drop off or pick up students on Mel Canyon. All school-related traffic is directed to Deerlane.

City of Duarte's Emergency Operations Center (EOC):
Our Emergency Operations Center will be activated on Sunday, August 20, and will remain operational until Unified Command partners, including L.A. County Public Works and L.A. County Fire Department,
determine that the storms and potential debris flow have subsided.
